Our Santa Barbara Chapter traveled to Monterey the last weekend in September for the first ever California Cup. This was a team event against the other chapters in California. We played both days on the very difficult Bayonet Course where the fairways were narrow and the rough was impossible. What a challenge. Donna Dishman was our team captain and the other members of the team included Linda Sumansky, Chris Painter Roe, Beth Rinehold, Gretchen Ostergren, Loretta Redd, Catherine Remak, Linda Veatch, Gail Harling, Susan Trenschel, Carolyn Fryer and Irelle Beatie. Claudette Crowther and Deb Pinner came along to play in the fun play event and gave the team moral support. The format was a two day match play tournament. The first day, 6 of our players played on 3 teams of Alternate Shot and the other 6 played on 3 teams of Best Ball. There was one point up for grabs for each twosome. Santa Barbara had the highest team total after the first day of 4 points! The second day was individual match play. We won an additional 4 points on Sunday and our team came in 3rd of 7 teams.
