Our Santa Barbara chapter participated in the 2nd Annual California Cup in Monterey, California on October 4th and 5th. We fielded a 12 person team to play match play against the other California Chapters. Our team consisted of Beth Rinehold, Gretchen Ostergren, Gail Harling, Linda Veatch, Donna Dishman, Irelle Beatie, Chris Painter-Roe, Linda Sumansky, Loretta Redd, Jill Ireland, Catherine Remak and Susan Rodriguez. The first day 3 of our pairs played alternate shot and the other 3 pairs played better ball. One point was available for each match and we won 3 ½ points out of 6 available. The second day was individual match play with 1 point available per match. We won 7 ½ points out of the 12 available. With 11 points we came in SECOND out of 8 chapters! Quite an improvement from our fourth place finish last year. The winning team was Sonoma-Marin-Napa who has a chapter of about 250-300 members and they have a qualifying tournament to select the team members to participate in this event. Our little Santa Barbara chapter gave them quite a fight. Congrats to everyone!
